About Me

Creating your own website is the vital first step.  Its a minefield! but I'll help you.  As usual there are options to consider:
  • Do it yourself
  • Get someone to do it for you
  • Buy a 'templated' site
  • Postpone the decision!

DO IT YOURSELF

Good idea, this way you're in control and you don't have to rely on anyone else.  How good are you at working with computer programs?  I have spent a fortune over the years buying this or that program, going on courses.  I have spent hours wrestling with easy to use software, but I am a slow learner,  you may not be.

GET SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU

As with most people you hire there are good and bad website designers and its impossible for you to know in advance.  The drawback is its expensive and you have to surrender control and devote a lot of time to it. Its like having a brochure printed and if you've ever done that you know how time consuming and expensive that can be!  This is a good option when your business is flying but maybe wrong when you're starting out.

BUY A TEMPLATED SITE

Can be cheap or even free(ish), gives you less flexibility but gets you up-and-running quickly and with some offers you can do it yourself with little computer knoweldge.  Its still a minefield, though, and a trap for the unwary.  If you are ever contacted by "Stores Online" or some other outfit from Utah don't go for it.  Its VERY expensive and not worth a candle, I hesitate to say its a scam, but its close.

I have used www.tripod.lycos.com which I got on well with and it will get you a web presence very easily.  You can buy your domain names there and run a blog as well as a website.  Again if you get stuck contact me.
